Canada Summer Jobs Program 2023

Many folks will likely know about this federal employment program, which has gone by many different names over the years…now called “Canada Summer Jobs” for the past few years. It provides important summer employment and skill development opportunities for youth, aged 15-30. For arts employers, its a great way to provide mentoring to young cultural workers, while having the positions fully supported through the CSJ program.

This year’s deadline is Jan 12, 2023 (12pm PST)…so you need to act fast!

Some important facts (and new changes):

  • Program is open to youth aged 15-30 including those NOT in school (new for 2023 year).

  • Eligible Projects must: provide full time work experiences (30 to a maximum of 40 hours per week) between April 24 and September 2, 2023 in Canada for a duration of 6 to 16 weeks.

  • Not for profit organizations: Eligible for up to 100% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage and all associated Mandatory Employment Related Costs.

  • National program priorities include: Youth with Disabilities; Black and other Racialized Youth; Indigenous Youth; Small Business and Not For Profit Organizations that self report as having leadership from groups that are under represented in the labour market; Small Business and Not For Profit Organizations in Environmental Sectors.

  • Local program priorities vary by province & community area & can be found here.

I took part in the information session on January 5th…you can find that presentation info below:
